Speed-to-Market Focus Prevails at MD&M West 2025

March 17, 2025

Boulder iQ once again exhibited at the MD&M West show in Anaheim, California, this year. Described as an event where industry professionals can “advance their knowledge, contacts, and progress in the rapidly accelerating world of advanced manufacturing,” MD&M lives up to its promises.

More than 13,500 attendees attended the event, visiting 1,700 booths in 330,000 square feet of show floor space. We experienced a steady stream of traffic. The common theme among everyone – large or small organization – was speed to market. Every developer is looking for ways to get their product into the hands of providers – and ultimately help patients – as quickly as possible.

Sterilization services
Interest in contract sterilization with fast turnaround was high. While contract sterilization service is critical for smaller developers for which in-house capabilities would be cost-prohibitive, we noted many larger companies interested in our services for engineering runs. The four-day turnaround we offer at Boulder Sterilization is far more efficient for them than the two weeks they get with many of their regular sterilization companies.

Across the board, people are still interested in learning about alternatives to ethylene oxide. More companies are embracing chlorine dioxide (CD) – and many were encouraged to hear that we are actively validating on the CD side.

Regulatory affairs
Throughout our meetings at the show, we found that many medical device manufacturers need additional regulatory support from experts with solid experience. Some need help with routine U.S. reports and submissions; some need international regulatory support. Conversations confirmed that companies often can benefit from assistance with internal audits, clinical research studies and remediation activities.

What’s next
Jim Kasic, our president and CEO, is in southern California – Dana Point – this week at LSI, along with Larry Blankenship, director. If you’re there and would like to connect to discuss your sterilization, regulatory, or product development questions and needs, let me know.
